Manage Organization
The Organization is the heart of your Kumoy account. It’s where you handle your subscription, your total storage, and everyone who has access to your work.
Key Concepts#
Before you start, keep these points in mind:
- Organization management covers inviting/removing members, changing roles, managing teams, reviewing settings, and checking logs.
- Users join the organization first, then get added to the teams they need.
- Teams and projects are managed from within the organization.
- Subscription plans and usage are tracked at the organization level.
- Decide who belongs to the organization first, then assign them to teams.
- Grant Owner or Admin only to people who need to manage the entire organization; everyone else should be a Member.
Organization Roles#
There are three organization roles, depending on how much control a user needs over members and settings.
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | In addition to Admin permissions: grant owner permissions, change the plan, and delete the organization |
| Admin | Invite members, view the member list, manage teams, and edit organization settings |
| Member | View basic organization information |
ImportantAn organization must always have at least one owner.
Manage Members#
Invite and edit organization members as follows.
Invite a New Member#
Owner or Admin permissions are required to invite members to the organization. The member is added once the invited user accepts the invitation.
-
Access Kumoy as a user with Owner or Admin permissions.
-
Open the Organization Settings tab, select the Members sub-tab, and click Invite member.
-
In the invite member popup, enter the email address and click Invite.
-
The members to be invited are displayed in a list. Change their roles if needed, then click Invite.
-
On the Members sub-tab, you can check the acceptance status of invited members or cancel an invitation.
Join the Organization#
ImportantJoining an organization requires an invitation from an Owner or Admin.
-
Invited user should go to the Kumoy dashboard first.
-
Click the Notifications button.
-
Click Accept.
-
Once joined, Organization appears on the dashboard.
Remove Member and Change Role#
You can remove or change the role of member from the member list.
-
Open the Organization Settings tab and select the Members sub-tab.
-
From the role dropdown of member, select Remove member or its new role.
ImportantAn Organization always needs at least one Owner. If you are the only one, you cannot change your role until you appoint another Owner. Admins do not have permission to grant or modify Owner roles.
